Bram is well served in the centre ville by a grocery store, delicatessen, two boulangeries and two bars, banks, a post office and other commerce. There is also a GP practice in Bram should you need medical attention. A train station serves Carcassonne and Toulouse. On the edge of Bram there is a large Carrefour supermarket with petrol station adjacent to the A61 motorway junction.
Domaine Le Gabachou offers a choice of four comfortable and well presented holiday gîtes near Carcassonne. The gîtes, La Maison d’Olives, Le Tournesol, Le Gabachou and L’Atelier offer peace and tranquillity, coupled with all the comforts you would expect in a real self-catering ‘home from home’. Guests are of course free to enjoy the 3 acre garden and swimming pool.
Le Gabachou is our largest gîte, with
- Three bedrooms. Large main bedroom with modern en-suite, good-sized 2nd double bedroom and one single-bedded room. The 2nd double and single have a recently renovated shower room located on the ground floor.
- A comfortable family lounge and a very large country kitchen with a table and 8 chairs. More space for the larger family group.
- There is a separate wc on the landing.
The accomocation is surrounded by 3 acres of grounds which have been laid out with various shrubberies, with one or two benches scattered around for those wanting an extra bit of peace and quiet. The front doors of all the gîtes lead to a large area under the three magnificent horse-chestnut trees that has been laid to gravel and provides a delightful sitting area, with several sets of chairs and tables, and BBQs.
It is an ideal spot to sit and read in the shade during the heat of the day and then enjoy al-fresco eating in the evening. There are lights shining up through trees, these lights coupled with the ‘up-lighters’ set in the ground in front of the house and the lovely lights along the drive create a very pleasant and subtle ambiance for enjoying the lovely, warm summer evenings.
Children are not forgotten with the swings and slide, table-tennis/football and swing-ball plus the swimming pool of course. The owner has grandchildren so there is also a selection of amusements for the smaller child for when they visit – e.g. paddling pool; sand pit; “hook a duck”, kiddies picnic table etc etc.
The swimming pool is heated, usually 26 – 28C but has been known to get to 30C! It has a tiled terrace, sun-loungers, a shaded pool house and inflatable toys etc.
