- Stairs to second floor where there it’s a large games room.
Outside is a large south facing garden with plenty of parking spaces. The 10m X 5m heated saltwater swimming pool has sun beds and umbrellas on the tiled terrace. On the terrace next to the house is shaded seating and table and chairs for Al-fresco dining.
The house is set on the edge of the village and is surrounded by farm land. It is a very peaceful area, very little in the way of passing traffic but lots of lovely walks close by. A bread van visits twice a week in the morning, see notice board for details. The house comfortably sleeps 8 plus travel cot for baby.
La Chapelle Baton is a small village in La Vienne. No 5 rue des Fleurs is the oldest house on the street and is over 100 years old. The area around La Chapelle Baton is great for walking and cycling. Surrounded by farmland there is very little in the way of passing traffic. Sunflowers are abundant around the village. While there are no shops, boulangeries, bars in the village now, the town of Charroux is a 10 minute drive away which has all the facilities/amenities you might need.
15 minutes away by car and you arrive at Savigne where you will find supermarkets, DIY shops, cafes and bars and others commerce. Another 5 minutes and you will be in Civray, more supermarkets, markets on Tuesday and Friday, restaurants and bars. This town is often featured in ‘A place in the Sun’ and ‘Life in the Sun’
Poitiers is about 1 hour away by car. A city steeped in history and known for its numerous bell towers. Just outside the city is the theme park, Futuroscope. Nearby in Romagne is La Vallee des Singes, an animal park specializing in primates. Tickets to these venues can be booked on line. There are lots of leaflets in the house with information on local places to visit etc.
An hour south is the city of Angouleme, an historical city dating back to the Romans. Angouleme also has a water park with inflatables to scale and slides, this is called Aquajump. There is swimming in the lake and restaurants on site. Again book on line.
The town of Cognac is just east of Angouleme, another historic town and producer of the world famous drink which bears its name.
