The hunting lodge has two wings, the East wing (3 bedrooms) and the West wing (2 bedrooms), connected. This is the East wing. Both wings can be rented separately, but also the hunting lodge as a whole.
The East wing is a 3-bedroom hunting lodge in Champagne, with exclusive access to the large swimming pool and castle park
- A living room with fireplace of “pierre de taille” / natural stone. The sofa can easily be converted into a very comfortable double bed if rented by more than six persons.
- A kitchen (37.5m²+ 4m²), oven + pyrolysis and four induction hobs, microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator, freezer, washing machine, dryer; satellite colour TV + video and DVD, telephone,

This is an entirely restored and renovated hunting lodge with two wings, the East wing (3 bedrooms) and a West wing with 2 bedrooms; two gites that can be rented separately or as a whole, connected, in the heart of the historic Argonne forest.
The private covered swimming pool (5x10m) sheltered in the castle park; exclusively for guests of the East wing, or for guests who rented the entire hunting lodge.
The hunting lodge is situated on a hill in the Champagne region, 9 km from Sainte-Ménéhould, 55 km from Chalons-en- Champagne, 54 km from Verdun (with many war memories from 1914-1918), 80 km from Reims, 128 km from Nancy, 200 km from Paris and 450 km from The Hague, in the heart of the Argonne region.
It is part of an estate with parkland, stables and other outbuildings, and the 16th/18th century hilltop castle of Villers, which for three hundred years belonged to the family of the famous German-born poet, biologist, explorer and author of the early 19th century bestseller “Peter Schlemihls wundersame Geschichte,” Adelbert von Chamisso. It towers over the River Aisne, at the beginning of the village of Villers-en-Argonne, which has about 250 inhabitants, with a baker’s who visits every day and a bargain-priced but excellent village restaurant nearby. It is embedded in a beautiful hilly landscape in the middle of the woods.
For those interested in the Champagne tour, harvest time for the Champagne grapes begins in mid August.
Apart from summer with its special attractions, autumn is perhaps the most spectacular period of the year. The mighty forests of the Argonne are at their most beautiful then and the animal world, boar and deer, much more than usual abundantly visible – and audible in this spring time.
At the same time, the then (covered) swimming pool is still fully usable despite the cool nights. The water was 25 degrees on 6 October and the air “indoors” 30 degrees.
N.B. in 2014 – 2018 the First World War is commemorated, “La Grande Guerre,” The Great War 1914 – 1918. The hunting lodge is located in the middle of the War Zone with numerous memorial sites. Verdun, the Stalingrad of WWI, is 55km away.
- High season rental: months of July and August. Mid-season: June and September, and holiday periods in spring, autumn and at Christmas/Old and New Year. Low season: other periods.

- For more than 6 persons there is a supplement of 70€ per week per person or 20€ p.p per day .
- For dogs a supplement of 40€ per dog p.w / 10€ p.d. By the way, only well-trained dogs are allowed, due to risk of damage. The deposit (300 E) will not be refunded on departure, but within a week after departure.
- Between 1 October and 1 May there is a general surcharge of 20 euro p.d. for the central (electric) heating. Apart from this heating surcharge in the autumn/spring and winter season and a tourist tax (Taxe de Séjour) introduced since 1/1/20, there are no mandatory surcharges; only options.
- Price long week-end (Friday Saturday-Sunday or Saturday-Sunday Monday): 420€ low season and 450€ mid season
- N.B. When renting for longer periods during low season, very significant reductions are possible.
