Together with my son Adriaan, I manage two gîtes/ semidetached cottages listed here on FrenchVacations:
I.The Hunting Lodge, the East Wing, and
II.The Hunting Lodge, the West Wing, both in the Champagne region.

I am a retired diplomate, Ambassador of the Netherlands, married to a Frenchwoman. We have three children. In the early 1990s, we purchased this estate in Champagne. Originally intended as a holiday destination, we chose Villers in 2010 as our main place of residence after three years of restoration work in and around the château.

Ever since our marriage in 1980, I had often visited the Argonne with its vast open spaces, valleys, magnificent forests, and remarkable cultural heritage, since my in-laws lived there after their retirement — my mother-in-law is from Lorraine, not far from Villers, and my father-in-law from Louvagny, in the heart of Normandy.
