Combe-Claire is a traditionally stone-built, country house/villa that offers all the modern conveniences to make your holiday comfortable and enjoyable. In spring the fruit trees blossom on the slopes surrounding the house. The deer pass by in the valley and wild boar occasionally forage in the local woods. In autumn the early morning mist gives way to warm sunshine that ripens the figs and walnuts. In the immediate surroundings it is easy to find an astonishing variety of wild mushrooms. Here is truly a place to relax, contemplate and unwind, yet it is superbly located so that all the region’s attractions can be visited with ease.This country house/villa in the heart of the Dordogne, near Sarlat, is spacious, modern and equipped to a very high standard. Both house and heated swimming pool enjoy a southerly aspect with a panoramic view of the valley.

The nearby villages of Marquay and Tamnies offer restaurants and shops. The house, which offers seclusion and tranquillity, is perfectly located for visiting all the attractions that the Dordogne region has to offer for a luxury, extra special, romantic or family holiday.
The Dordogne: The Dordogne or Périgord region is one of the most beautiful parts of France, well known to the French for its food and wine. There is a saying, “En Périgord, on mange bien, on boit bien”. Périgord is the home of the truffle and foie gras. Numerous local restaurants, with all regional delights, tempt the casual visitor. As a world centre of prehistory, the Dordogne offers countless caves for exploration. The world-renowned Lascaux and Font de Gaume, with their cave paintings and artefact’s, are both close by. The national museum of prehistory, only 15 minutes away in Les Eyzies, provides a good starting point. Entrance is free on the first Sunday of every month. Within easy range, too, are chateaux and bastides – medieval fortified towns – which mark turning points of history, from Viking and English domination, to the resistance of the French Protestants. Across this region Simon de Montfort drove the Cathar heretics virtually to extinction at the foot of the Pyrenees.
Sarlat: Sarlat is one of the most fascinating and beautifully restored towns not only in the Dordogne, but in France. The atmosphere and appearance are of another age, with narrow, steep, beautiful alleys flanked by medieval and renaissance houses in honey-coloured stone. It has more historic listed buildings than any other place of its size in France and is the only town to be given three stars by the Michelin guide solely for the quality and character of its old town. One of the largest weekly markets in France takes over most of the town every Saturday. There is also a Food Market in Sarlat every Wednesday. Throughout the summer there are musical festivals and art exhibitions in Sarlat and nearby towns. In the nocturnal markets there are bargains to be sought among the local crafts, food produce and Bergerac wines by the light of gas-illuminated street lamps. Sarlat is only 15-20 minutes drive away from Combe-Claire. A visit to Tourist Information Office in Sarlat is highly recommended.

This Villa is Stunning
This villa is stunning ! It stands in the most peaceful, tranquil location with beautiful views and is yet just 20 minutes or so from the many and varied attractions the Dordogne has to offer. Our grandchildren loved the pool ( as did all three generations) and our youngest loved his many early evening visits to see the local deer. Communication with Farah was first class. She responded promptly to any queries we had throughout the booking process and supplied us with lots of useful information prior to our arrival and throughput the holiday…….and Rosemary was lovely and always on hand during our stay. We have spent many holidays in France over the years and this was without a doubt the very best. David ,Pauline and family ( 2weeks in July 2025).

An Elegant and Comfortable Home
Review July 2025 Combe Claire is an elegant and comfortable home. We stayed as an extended family group of 8 for a week during July 2025. The house is spacious and benefits from having 5 bedrooms with bathrooms en-suite. We enjoyed meals outside overlooking the swimming pool and surrounding countryside. The house is exceedingly well equipped with thoughtful provisions such as swimming towels, and most significantly air conditioning. The house is in a great location for exploring the surrounding area where there is much to see. We enjoyed wandering around Sarlat, canoeing and paddleboarding on the River Vezere, visiting caves at Lascaux, learning the 20* century history of Chateau des Milandes and exploring the hilltop towns of Domme and Beynac. The local bakery, which is in an unusual position, was a hit with all of us. Farah and her team were exceedingly responsive from the moment we enquired about booking the house for a holiday. Arrangements were straight forward and dealt with very professionally. We would love to return to Combe Claire and highly recommend a stay in this wonderful home. Belinda D

Beautiful and immaculate house with the most comfortable beds.
We stayed at Combe-Claire in August 2024. I can only add to existing reviews that this is a beautiful house. Farah is great. She responds quickly to emails and provides comprehensive notes for your stay. Rosemary was lovely and walked us through the house on our arrival. Every consideration has been given for a self catering holiday. The house was immaculate and the beds are the most comfortable I have experienced in France. The location is perfect if you are seeking peace, quiet, gorgeous countryside and diverse wildlife. The surrounding villages are beautiful and you are only a 20 minute drive to Sarlat. The local lake and inflatable course was thoroughly enjoyed by our three grandchildren. The pool is the icing on the cake and perfect for young and old alike after a busy and hot day. I would highly recommend Coombe-Claire. Having stayed in six rentals over the last 10 years, this is the best by far.
